Craigslist | 1985 Honda VF700F Interceptor – Standout Sporty Fun

We often have to remind ourselves that the mid-1980s were over 30 years ago, but this Honda sportbike doesn’t look old enough to buy a beer.

Offered on Craigslist in the SF Bay Area is a very clean looking 1985 Honda VF700 – the midrange Honda sportbike of the era. Bikes like these became luxury items after the 1983 motorcycle tariffs (imposed by the Regan administration to help save Harley Davidson) upped the MSRP considerably.

This example has 16,400 miles on the clock, which isn’t high for these engines. Seller states that they bought it from a retired CHP Officer, and that they have had the bike professionally maintained – including professional installation of upgraded exhaust, a new rear shock, new ignition switch and new upholstery.

Seller will include the stick fairings (pictured), tank bag, battery tender, used moto cover, lock and the original OEM toolkit.

The bike looks pretty great cosmetically, and the seller states that its been kept indoors. They do note one small chip on the side of the tank, which means it may have been dropped before.

Title is clean and in the seller’s name, with current registration.

Price-wise it’s a little high (we’re seeing some similar liter bikes from this era for about this price), so we’d negotiate a bit so that we could afford to repair or replace the non-functional tach. We think this one would be a fun commuter for ripping up and down Skyline Blvd.
