Craigslist | 1985 Honda Z50 Monkey – Only Have Garage Space Left for Half a Bike?

We’re calling this the Franken-monkey.

Up for sale on Craigslist is a totally redone Honda Z50 Monkey pit-bike, finished in candy-apple red with early 80s Honda badging. This sweet little piece has been mated to a grand new Honda 125cc motor, giving it significantly more power than the original. In fact, our napkin math says that this little thing nw has a power-to-weight ratio similar to the Bonneville in our garage.

Motor has 3 speeds, with some kind of brakes (we assume), given that 125ccs is enough to make Honda’s scooters freeway legal. We even love the hilarious full-size red UNI pod filter on the carb.

The repaint looks pretty good, but not flawless, but everyone would be sad if this turned into a showpiece anyway. This bike is made for riding like an asshole around your next tailgate, and scaring the neighbor’s dog as you wheelie down your street 16 inches off the ground.

Seller is asking $1600, which is a lot… though a new motor is $400, and the pod filter alone is $20…. so, with a little negotiation, this one may even be paycheckable.
